Dara Richter, RYT 200
Yoga Instructor

Dara has been teaching yoga for 24 years. She first experienced yoga incidentally in 1999, during rehearsals for a musical. Amazed by the immediate and profound effects of simply linking breath to movement, she began practicing regularly at an Ashtanga-based studio called It’s Yoga. She loved it so much, she decided to pursue teaching and became certified through It’s Yoga’s teacher training program. She later completed a second program with Clayton Horton of Greenpath Yoga. Dara taught yoga in the San Francisco Bay Area for the next 14 years, to all ages and levels, and in various environments including yoga studios, health clubs and gyms, public school classrooms, parks, beaches, and private homes. She has taught Chair Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Vinyasa Flow and Power Yoga, Kid’s Yoga, Partner Yoga, and Restorative Yoga. In 2014 she completed an advanced 300-hour teacher training with Raji Thron of Yoga Synthesis in Ramsey, NJ.
In her yoga practice as well as in her teaching, Dara continues to discover deeper layers of connection to inner and outer experience. She enjoys sharing her passion for natural and holistic wellness, and her appreciation for the guiding principles of yoga, such as non-violence, truthfulness, self-study and surrender, and their applications both on and off the mat. She sprinkles humor throughout her classes and always encourages students to listen to their inner teacher.
